Long time, no see.

I Neil found it- the cable that is, hiding in plain sight, where we had both looked for it many times. I blame the kids. It could never be my bad looking skills, now could it?? So now that I have access to my photos again, I have gone a bit mad. Lucky you!

Here we are at Mum's on Easter Saturday. It was lovely. Now we are inside with the fire going and rain outside. Never mind.
In case you haven't noticed, we have one walking toddler in the family. We're all very excited, but not as excited as Luke is. Look out world!
And just to prove that he really is a big boy now, he has moved into a bed. I have left the cot up, just in case, but he hasn't looked back. Such a good boy. I had talked to lots of people who have kids with DS and can't keep them in bed, and had myself all worked up that it was going to be a difficult transition. Of course Luke went to sleep and stayed in his bed all night. No problem. One of these days I will learn that these things are a personality issue and not a DS issue! I will save myself a lot of worry. Ben was the one who wouldn't stay in his bed, but he went into a bed because he was climbing out of his cot in the first place, so that was no surprise!
Luke the musician, with his sister the dancer.
Nana's new kitten Millie, who is recovering from an excess of child love over Easter.
Luke is just the latest of our children to discover the cat's bed is a great place to sit. Mostly because there is an electric blanket under it!
No he is not enrolled in ballet lessons...
...but I think this cheeky monkey has out grown his parallel bars!
And yes I do clean him regularly!
I just love this guy!

Walking Pushing a Trolley

I posted about what Luke was able to do at age 18 months a little while ago, and I mentioned that he could push a trolley across the living rooms. So here he is. He started by pushing a ride on as it was lower and he didn't have the strength to stand up for very long. Then when we were away, he used other people's ride ons which were all different heights. When he was getting confident with that, I turned them around and had him push from a more upright position, with his hands on the steering wheel to push instead of the seat. We were only away for a week, and by the time we got back he was strong enough to pull himself up at the trolley and push it along all by himself. Yay!

Sleeping sitting up

Luke has just started to sit up when I lie him down for his sleeps, and I often go back in now to find him asleep folded in half, as if he has fallen asleep sitting up and slowly leaned over. I know he is extra flexible due to the DS, but is there any other reason he might be doing this, and do I need to be concerned or not? Any suggestions welcomed :)

Teeth

The other night we were getting the kids ready for bed, and Neil was brushing Luke's teeth. He had just got the second of his front top teeth, and had 4 in total. I commented on how pleased I was with the shape of them, as his lower ones are very thin and jagged. I also said that it was funny how he was getting his teeth in the usual order, when I had read that kids with DS often cross-cut their teeth. We were laughing because Emily cross-cut, particularly the top ones, and at one stage she looked really peculiar with the front right tooth, and the next one to the right through, and none on the left.

The next morning I noticed Luke's cheeks were really red and dry, and had been for a few days. I put my finger in his mouth to see if there was any action. Imagine my surprise to find 2 top molars! One is totally through, and the other half way cut.

When will I learn to keep my mouth shut!
