Climbing

During the week, there was shouting coming from the garden. Emily, whose voice could cut through steel, was calling for me at the top of her lungs. I am surprised every "Mum" in the neighbourhood did not come running! When I got outside, there was Luke, at the top of the stepladder, and Emily holding on to his ankle to stop him from falling. I couldn't believe it. Turns out Neil had been using it when he was working on the playhouse, and Luke can climb. Unfortunately he did not tell us he could now climb, or that he planned to go up the ladder, but luckily his sister was on hand to prevent a disaster. I was impressed that she had the presence of mind to hold him and call out. She is only 3 after all.

So the ladder is now always put away. The ladder to the trampoline has gone too, because he climbed up that when I was hanging out the washing. I spoil all his fun!
Last night Luke took his milk and plonked himself down in Ben's lap for a cuddle. So cute! So then Emily wanted a turn. Lucky Luke was happy to oblige :)

AWESOME that Luke can climb so well and even better that your 3 year old, Emily, is smart enough to call for you AND keep him from falling! Sorry for the scare, but what a great accomplishment for Luke :)

Well done Emily, she's a great big sister.

Emily is so clever. She behaved like a true "little mammy".

But one must recognise the climbing exploit! Dangerous, but Super! ;-)

Yay, Luke!...I mean, "no-no". :) That's awesome and a tad terrifying at the same time. And so it begins...

Mel - I didn't see where I could comment on your "It's not me, it's you" post, so I am commenting on the "climbing post"... I am so frustrated for you with your trip to the dentist! Are there any other dental offices in your area that you could take Luke to, where they would be more open-minded and not have pre-conceived notions about people with Ds (as opposed to "Down syndrome kids")? FRUSTRATING! I am sorry you seem to keep running into this type of scenario... we are lucky that one of my best friend's husband is a dentist and our old neighbor is an orthodontist, so hopefully we will not encounter that (although, we will be dealing with people at their offices, and hopefully they do not have the same pre-conceived ideas that you ran into). I bet Luke was a good boy at the dentist too... did he get stickers like his big sister :) Hope you are enjoying a HOT summer day today!!! It is snowing here... yet again. Oh well, hopefully we can go play outside and enjoy it - i just hope warmer weather is on the way soon!
